COMPETITOR ANALYSIS

Compare competitors without pretending every public claim is equally reliable.

Evidence Axis examines the competitor set, opens the underlying sources and compares the dimensions that matter to a real business decision. Facts, analytical readings and unresolved gaps remain visibly separate.

THE ANALYSIS

Start with the question, then choose the comparison.

A useful competitor analysis is narrower than a market encyclopedia. We define the decision boundary first, identify the competitors that belong in it, then collect and verify the evidence needed to compare them.

01

Define the decision

Pricing pressure, feature race, positioning conflict, sales objection, category move or another bounded question.

02

Validate the competitor set

Known competitors are context, not automatically the complete set. Scan-derived candidates require evidence before promotion.

03

Verify the claims

Open product pages, pricing, documentation, changelogs, filings or other relevant lawful public sources.

04

Compare what matters

Build the comparison around the decision rather than filling a generic matrix for appearance.

EXAMPLE

Intercom vs Zendesk, read as evidence.

The public Evidence Axis sample compares how Intercom and Zendesk position, package and substantiate their customer-support offerings. It also shows where public evidence cannot establish a universal winner or a workload-specific cost answer.

FAQ

Questions teams usually ask before the work starts.

Can you analyze competitors we already know?

Yes. Known competitors can be included, but Evidence Axis can also scan for overlooked candidates when the scope calls for discovery.

Do you use vendor comparison pages?

They can create useful leads, but vendor-authored comparison content is not treated as neutral proof for material claims.

Can public evidence prove which competitor is best?

Sometimes a bounded dimension can be established. A universal winner usually cannot. When the evidence does not support the conclusion, the result remains Unknown rather than being filled with an estimate.

Can the analysis continue into sales or positioning work?

Yes. A Competitive Response Sprint can turn a verified decision into battlecards, objection handling, pricing response, positioning or messaging assets.
